12-12-2010 From Oslo to Bodø on Train
This weekend I flew down to Oslo to drop off some presents and such for Christmas. I only stayed one night down there, and I decided to take the train from Oslo to Bodø. In total it was a 20 hour trip, but alot of fun. I got some quality reading and relaxation in, which has been much needed. I had to switch trains twice, one in Hamar and one in Trondheim. My layover in Trondheim was an hour and a half so I met with some fellow Borg friends. Ingvild met me at the train station and we walked to the bar/cafe that Helene works at. It was great to see them for even the short time I was there.

11/27/2010 Sunrise Photos
I woke up early this morning, by early I mean 9.00, but I hiked up to the nearest highest point overlooking Bodø and watched the sunrise... here are some photos..

This was taken the night before... 6-6.30ish?

Waiting for the sunrise over Bodø... it took longer than I expected!

Looking North up the coast, the sun reflecting off the mountians..

If you look carefully, you can see the Lofoton islands off in the distance.. they are the snow capped peaks with the sun reflecting of it... it was quite a site to see in person.

The sun reflecting of some clouds that were hovering over the fjord.

Let the sun shine on Bodø... even if only for a few hours. But finally at 10.54am I saw the sun.

10-27-2010 Its been awhile
I know it has been along time since I have updated my blog. Not much has happened since last time. My last month has involved this... work, visiting Elin when I have a weekend off, sleep, and thats about it. I feel like I have been very busy. We had snow a week or so ago now, I took a picture of the snow. It has now melted away but it is still right around freezing maybe a few degrees above. Other than that, not much has changed. Below is a picture out of my window of our first snow.

10-3-2010 30km Hike
I had Saturday off of work, and decided to go for a long hike. It turned out to be about a 30km walk over the little mountains just north east of Bodø. It took my about 7 hours and here a few of the photos of the surrounding area.

Macro.

It looks like an infinity lake.

Just taking in the view.

27-9-2010 Bodø
I have been in Bodø now for just over 2 weeks... when I got here to the hostel... nothing was done inside... it was still a construction site. I had to literally build my bed to sleep in it the first night... but it is slowly coming together... IKEA brought every piece of furniture imaginable for me to build and put in the rooms. On Friday 1 October we open. We still have alot to do with cleaning and getting all the rooms together. This last week I did not work as much because Elin came for a visit. We tried out 3 new restaurants in Bodø. It was great having her here, but now it is back to work. I am planning on flying back down to Asker in a couple weeks for a long weekend so we can be together again.. together again, together again... only Elin will understand that one! haha but here are some pics from my stay so far.

Tessi... checking me out.

A view from my window.

Another view from my window.

The moon over the train station.

The moon rise.

Looking Northwest up the coast and towards the Lofoten Islands...

The building that looks like a prison... thats the hostel I am working at.

The city of Bodø.

My first sunset in Bodø.

A rainbow over the train station.

9-7-2010 Road Trip through Ireland!
Elin and I impulsively bought cheap airfare to Dublin Ireland from Oslo back in July. So from there we needed a "plan". So we rented a car and decided to figure it out when we got there. We flew into Dublin early in the morning and jumped in the Micra and drove west towards Limmerick. Then we decided to follow the west coast south down to the southwest and then back east towards Cork and back up to Dublin. We stayed in B&B`s the whole week where we stayed cheaply and got breakfast of eggs, sausage, bacon, tomato, and toast every morning. We saw a bunch of different things, we tried to take scenic routes when we could and here are some of our highlights of our trip..
Also, I thought I should mention I drove a right hand drive stick shift on the narrow roads of Ireland... I now can drive anything anywhere. As you may know, they drive on the right side of the car and on the left side of the road... here are some pics... I had a total of 274 pics of the trip, so this is just a sample.

Elin and the Micra... ou rental car.

Our very first B&B on the trip.

There was some slow play ahead of us, so we got some time to take in the view.

Elin taking a whack at the ball.

Pitch and Puttin in Ireland.

Beautiful Pitch and putt course we played, its basically a par 3 course with the holes no longer than 65 yards. They give you a wedge and putter to play.

Driving up a narrow road along the cliffs along the ocean, we passed this castle... and a few turns later up the hill, I looked in my rear view mirror and I saw it again, so I had to take a picture of it.

The famous Cliffs of Moher.

Elin and the Cliffs of Moher.

Elin`s creative photography.

The first attempt failed us cause of the wind... but we got it on this one... this is at the "secret pennisula"

Elin very carefully peaking over the cliff.

This is one of our B&B`s we stayed at.. they also had horses, and let us feed them bread. Their house is not far from the beach.

A picture Elin took by the beach.

Me jumping on the beach.

Elin jumping on the beach.

A beautiful end to a beautiful day.

Elin`s favorite beach.

Our cliche` pic on Elin`s favorite beach.

The Blarney Castle.

Pulling over for a short break.

Imagine that... two Micra`s next to each other... which one is ours?

The beautiful Irish nature.

One of our beautiful B&B`s.

Elin`s beautiful photography. She LOVES the macro button.

Panoramic of the Irish south west.

A little stop on our way up Healy Pass... we are just too cool.

Beautiful weather up at Healy Pass... we were so lucky!

Elin running past the walk slow sign....

Elin taking a short break from the intense Irish heat.

The famous Blarney Castle.

This is a police station in Enniskerry.

Elin after our hike in Enniskerry... we were so wet.

Just got done hiking in the pooring rain in Enniskerry, but it was so worth it!
